Thailand lurches toward Chaos
Bad news keeps piling up in Thailand. Three (Buddhist) women were shot in what some headlines call an "ambush" yesterday in (80% Muslim) southern Thailand. They were in a truck travelling to work. As a response the (Buddhist) government has sent security forces south, and where there are troops there will be abuses. The government denies it is "disappearing" Muslims and blames the mess on the previous government. Human Rights Watch is keeping an eye on this situation. Thailand's government must be called to account.
And meanwhile schoolteachers have become targets in what Al-Jazeera calls southern Thailand's Muslim rebellion.

Not a good situation.
It is so sad that a country which has given so much to the world in terms of its contribution to Buddhism is so gripped by such misery and enmity.
The contradiction is alarming. I wish there was an easy solution to this conflict and others like it. However, I am afraid the only real answer will come with a fundamental change in the human race.
I am optimistic, but afraid for this world at the same time.
