Aung San Suu Kyi "Very Optimistic"
Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, set to meet with members of her opposition party for the first time in three years, is "very optimistic" about changes in Burma. She also met with Aung Kyi, a general representing the ruling junta. This is progress. The world needs to keep up pressure to keep the talks going and being about real change.
Burma isn't the only place Buddhist monks are facing trouble. In Vietnam, a monk named Tim Sakhorn was jailed for a year for "undermining the national unity policy" of Vietnam while living in neighboring Cambodia.
And Ecorazzi reports that the Dalai Lama's Land Rover is for sale (and a meeting with Sharon Stone may be included, plus a three-day teaching -- on how to drive it? -- from the DL himself!) $75,000 is the starting bid, but they'd probably prefer payment in some more stable currency, like the baht. Proceeds will benefit the Dalai Lama Foundation.
