Buddhist teachings refer to a set of six interrelated virtues called the transcending perfections, or paramitas—benevolent generosity, ethical discipline, forbearing patience, joyous perseverence, meditative absorption, and discerning wisdom. They are genuine expressions of love and compassion and the means of cultivating one’s own true nature. This retreat will help practitioners to understand the different aspects of each virtue, and their relation to each other, and how we can develop them.

Karma Trinlay Rinpoche was born in Switzerland in 1975 to a French father and an American mother. At thirteen months he was recognized by His Holiness the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa and the Venerable Kalu Rinpoche as the reincarnation of an important Buddhist teacher. For the next ten years, Rinpoche traveled the world with Kalu Rinpoche, often serving as his translator. In the course of his spiritual schooling, Rinpoche has received various transmissions and important instructions in Buddhist philosophy and meditation from many highly qualified teachers. Presently working on a doctorate at Sorbonne University, Rinpoche is fluent in English, French, and Tibetan, and is the first Western reincarnation of the Karma Kagyu School.
