As reported by the Associated Press, filmmaker David Lynch, known for such mind-bending works as Mulholland Drive, Twin Peaks, and Blue Velvet, has created a foundation to bring Transcendental Meditation (TM) into American schools. Ever willing to shock and confuse, he plans to raise no less than $7 billion to fund the project. A TM practitioner since the seventies, Lynch discussed his motivation with Newsweek magazine. "My schooling was a total waste of time, even though I went to what was a very good high school. I wish that I’d had consciousness-based education. I would have been a lot further down the road. The problems and the stress at younger and younger ages--it’s getting worse instead of better," Lynch said.
