NEW BOOKS: Like A Dream, Like a Fantasy
NYOGEN SENZAKI was one of the first Japanese teachers to come to America and stay here, living in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and, from 1941 to 1945, in an internment camp in Wyoming with tens of thousands of other Japanese-Americans. While perhaps lesser-known than other early transplant Zen teachers - no doubt due in part to his written works being so hard to get ahold of - his important role in the establishment of dharma practice in the West cannot be questioned. The poems included were all originally written by Senzaki in Chinese, and he himself translated them into English.Share with a Friend
