Scholar, teacher, and decades-long Tibetan Buddhist practitioner Reginald “Reggie” A. Ray, Ph.D., was among the earliest American students of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. Ray developed a close relationship with his teacher, who, in the 1970s and 1980s, was a pioneer in establishing Tibetan Buddhism in the West.

Ray is widely respected for his knack for making Vajrayana Buddhist teachings accessible to contemporary students. He has authored four books and taught countless students, from dharmacenter settings to university classrooms. After spending many years as a senior teacher in the Shambhala tradition, Ray started his own community, the Dharma Ocean Sangha, in 2005.
