Course Description:

One of the deepest forms of suffering in our culture is the pain of feeling that "something is wrong with me." When not faced, this deep insecurity keeps us at war with ourselves, and gives rise to the intolerance and violence that so plagues our world today. Whether in the shape of chronic judgment, depression or addictive behavior, feelings of deficiency prevent us from living and loving fully.

Radical Acceptance is the capacity to see clearly what is happening in the moment, and to accept what we see with love. As we cultivate these qualities of mindfulness and compassion, the trance of unworthiness lifts. Radical Acceptance awakens us from the grip of our human insecurity and reveals our Buddha nature-the loving awareness that is our very essence.

Course Overview:

Session One: Recognizing the "Trance of Unworthiness"
Buddhist psychology and the suffering of shame and fear. Exploring how the wings of mindfulness and compassion can heal difficult emotions and reveal our basic goodness.

Session Two: Without Anxiety about Imperfection
Buddhist meditations and teachings that cultivate self-forgiveness and self-compassion

Session Three: True Refuge in the Face of Fear
Discovering the loving awareness that is vast enough for fear. Recognizing the physical, emotional, mental and behavioral expressions of the body of fear. Awakening from fear through the pathways of relatedness, unconditional presence and realizing who we are.

Session Four: Widening the Circles
Including all beings in our hearts. Exploring the bodhisattva trainings that awaken compassion, forgiveness and lovingkindness; realizing and inhabiting our True Nature.
