Hello from the Tricycle Foundation, home to Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, the independent voice of Buddhism!

The Tricycle Foundation was established in 1990 as a not-for-profit 501 c(3) organization dedicated to the dissemination of Buddhist views and values. In 1991 it launched Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, the first magazine intended to present Buddhist perspectives to a Western readership. Until then, there was no public forum for exploring contemporary and traditional Buddhist ideas or their integration with Western disciplines; no neutral space for Buddhists of different traditions to come together; and no accessible, independent voice to initiate dialogue between Buddhism and the society at large. The Foundation has also sponsored pilgrimages and national public events such as Change Your Mind Day, offered groundbreaking Tele-conference teachings with leading Buddhists, and started a Meditation Kit program for prisoners and others in need.

For sixteen years, Tricycle has accommodated the enormous array of Buddhist activities in the West, as well as the diverse range of interest in Buddhism. In both design and content, the magazine presents a fresh, lively, non-dogmatic approach to everyday issues and attracts readers like you from all walks of life. In 2005 and 2006, Tricycle: The Buddhist Review won a Folio Award for Best Spiritual/Religious Magazine in the United States. The overwhelming success of our magazine confirms the need for a public and unaffiliated forum for Buddhist dialogue.

As a magazine with a moral conscience, we turn away ads that are not suited specifically to you as a dharma practitioner. We tailor every inch of the magazine for your needs, but need your financial support to keep Tricycle independent. As an non-profit magazine, we rely on your donations to close the gap.

Tricycle needs your donation to keep providing fresh insights into Buddhism and meditation, and continue to provide a quality magazine designed to enrich your spiritual life. We know that your hard-earned dollar is valuable. But if you look forward to Tricycle arriving in your mailbox four times a year, and appreciate receiving a magazine that isn't filled with more advertising than articles, please consider giving generously today.

Best Wishes,
Marlena Sonn
