What does it mean to be Awake in the World? You Tell Us!
All right all ye professional, budding, and smart phone-wielding videographers out there. Now is your chance to bully all your friends into just one more artistic project and make some solid money in the process. All you have to do is create a film—5 minutes or less—that explores the question, "what does it mean to be awake in the world?"
Tricycle is partnering with BuddhaFest Film Festival to bring you a Short Films Showcase competition with a top prize of $1,000...and the bragging rights that you are officially the one who knows best of all what it means to be awake in the world. (Kidding about that last.)
THE PRIZES:
If you enter: A free one-year membership to Tricycle! Worth it. Totally worth it.
If you win first: $1,000 to you, my friend, and a screening at the BuddhaFest Film Festival in Arlington, VA this June as well as on our website. So that you can bask in the glory of your achievement, you'll receive two 4-Day All Festival Passes to BuddhaFest.
If you win second or third: You have your choice between $150 or two 4-Day All Festival passes to BuddhaFest. And of course, your film will be screened at the Fest and here on tricycle.com.
In addition to the three winning films, several entries will receive Director's Choice awards. These entrants will win one 4-Day BuddhaFest pass each and will be screened as well.
THE RULES:
You can find the specifics here. The most important rules boil down to this: 1) the film must be your own work. 2) Don't violate any copyrights, folks. 3) The entries must be received by April 30.
As a Tricycle employee, I'm not allowed to submit an entry (we're all sad about this). But I thought I'd put together an "Awake in the World" photo montage to get that motivation goin' and the creative juices flowin'.
What does it mean to be Awake in the World?

Now I know you can do better than that. We are all looking forward to watching the entries (they will be available for public voting on YouTube)! Let us know in the comments section if you're planning to participate!
