Video: Rare 1976 interview with the 16th Karmapa

UPDATE 3/4: This video is an extra from the film, Recalling a Buddha: Memories of the Sixteenth Karmapa by filmmaker Gregg Eller.

Uploaded to YouTube by wudu1982,

Amazing and very unique recording of HH16 Karmapa Interview which took place during His Holiness the Karmapa's visit to the USA in 1976.
The Karmapa (officially His Holiness the Gyalwa Karmapa) is the head of the Karma Kagyu, the largest sub-school of the Kagyupa (Tibetan Bka' brgyud), itself one of the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism.

UPDATE: After posting this this, a scholar emailed noting that there is a bit of a flaw with the statement I quoted:

"....the Karma Kagyu, the largest sub-school of the Kagyupa......."

He pointed out that while the Karma Kagyu is indeed a large sub-school of the Kagyupa, the Drugpa Kagyu school is also very large and that if you include Tibet as well as the neighbouring Himalayan regions, the Drugpa Kagyus of Bhutan and Ladakh (along with Tibet), it is a larger school than the Karma Kagyu by far.

I appreciate the correction!
