A Very Buddhist Christmas...Carol

A short featuring some of your favorite holiday characters—and a couple of your Buddhist ones, too

Here at Tricycle, we love holiday themed videos—check out our Buddhist Holiday Survival Guide and last year's A Very Buddhist Christmas. So we made one more video for you this year, featuring some of our favorite holiday characters...and a couple of Buddhist ones, too. "A Very Buddhist Christmas...Carol" reworks the lyrics of "Here We Come A-Caroling" to "Here We Come to Meditate." Watch the video and sing along:

Here we come to meditate,
Among tea leaves so green,
Here we come to meditate so fair to be seen,
Peace and joy come to you, please perfect your wisdom too
May the Buddhas bestow on you a happy new year,
May they send you a happy new year.

Happy Holidays from the Tricycle team!

Thanks to Dharma Forest for the cheery lyrics.

Thanks for the smile and lightness ... something needed when we can all take this season "so seriously"!

Be well, and much joy to all the team[s] at Tricycle,
Kj

Thanks for this. A nice reminder of the close spiritual 'essence' of Christianity and Buddhism. Happy Holidays to The Team!

Call me insensitive, but I think the video needed a self-immolating Santa Claus. Namaste.

Yes, perhaps a bit insensitive, Morann. You sign "Namaste", which means "I bow to the light within you" yet your comment does not seem to honor the light within those that find Santa a symbol of giving. I offer, with deep respect, that perhaps you would want to soften your heart a bit around this ... for, truly, we just make up the reality around us [which of course, I just did, in my response to your comment]. May you find yourself surrounded by those you love, and find joy in the moment of this season, and all year through.

Jan Palach, a Czech student self-immolated in 1969 as a political protest against the end of the Prague Spring resulting from the 1968 invasion of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact armies. On 25 February 1969 another student, Jan Zajíc, burned himself to death in the same place, followed in April of the same year by Evžen Plocek in Jihlava.
Why self-immolate? One thing is certain: its not very funny.
