Rebel Buddha—Trust your capacity to embody genuine wisdom

During the month of November, the Tricycle Book Club is discussing Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche's Rebel Buddha! Look for daily excerpts from the book on the Tricycle Blog to inspire the conversation, which is happening here.

From Rebel Buddha:

"You, the students of today living in Vancouver and New York, London and Hamburg, Barcelona and Hong Kong, are the teachers of tomorrow. Even if that's not in your game plan at the moment, it may happen. That's how it works. So as a potential teacher yourself, you must trust your capacity to learn and embody genuine wisdom. Students today have many advantages. You start your practice with a good education and an impressive range and depth of knowledge. Therefore, in many ways, you're intellectually prepared for a journey whose goal is transcendent knowledge. Capacity or potential is not the problem. The challenge is to discriminate what is culture and what is wisdom."
