His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche to teach in Memphis, Tennessee
His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche is giving two days of teachings in Memphis, Tennessee at the Pema Karpo Meditation Center later this month. Pema Karpo is headed by Khenpo Gawang Rinpoche, a student of His Holiness Penor Rinpoche.
If you're not familiar with Garchen Rinpoche, the film For the Benefit of All Beings, which appeared at last year's BuddhaFest Film Festival and online at tricycle.com, is a great introduction to this remarkable teacher. At the age of 22 he was imprisoned for twenty years by the Chinese government. The film shows how, despite brutal treatment and privation, he emerged full of love and joy, determined to teach the dharma.
His Eminence will give two teachings in three sessions at Pema Karpo: A one-day Tara Empowerment on Sunday, April 29th, and then two days of Dzogchen teachings on Sunday, April 29th and Monday, April 30th.
